Curriculum
Parents are children’s first educators, so we work in partnership with families to build on their detailed knowledge of their child’s interests and starting points. This helps us to extend children’s learning and play, giving them a rich and tailored learning experience. Home visiting is one of the ways we build strong links with every family. This helps us to better understand and support each unique child. 
This information then forms the basis of our planning and helps us to ensure that we are providing a range of appropriate and responsive play and learning opportunities which are both child initiated and adult led.

Pupil Premium
The aim of the Early Years Pupil Premium is to close the gap between children from disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers by providing funding to early years providers to help them raise the quality of their provision.
 
Eligibility for early years pupil premium
3- and 4-year olds in state-funded early education will attract EYPP funding if they meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
  • Income Support OR Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance OR Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more that £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for 4 weeks after Working Tax Credit is stopped
  • Universal credit
  • They are currently being looked after by a local authority in England or Wales
  • They have left care in England or Wales through: an adoption OR special guardianship order OR child arrangement order

Little Learners ensures:
  • Safe and appropriate use of devices.
  • Acceptable and appropriate use of technology within the setting. 
  • High expectations of professional boundaries and behaviour of staff on social media. 
  • Children to be supported to express any worries or concerns they have about what they are seeing online.
  • Parents are offered support to ensure they understand online safety risks for early years children.
  • Parents are given opportunities to develop their knowledge.
  • Parents are supported if they experience any online safety concerns.
 
Advice from us to you: 
  1. Supervise children’s use of devices and play along with them. 
  2. Always be aware of what they are looking at.

Healthy Schools

Healthy Schools is a joint Department for Education and Department of Health programme delivered by the local Healthy School Team. It recognises the link between health (physical, emotional and social) and achievement. It contributes to all of the Every Child Matters outcomes through its four main aims:
 
  • to raise achievement
  • to reduce health inequalities
  • to promote social inclusion
  • to support children and young people to develop healthy behaviours

Healthy Schools promote the health and wellbeing of pupils’ parents and staff using a whole school approach to ensure the curriculum is planned to meet young people’s needs and is supported by an environment that supports safety, learning and healthy lifestyle choices.
The Healthy School Team support schools to achieve Healthy School Status, quality assuring policy and practice against rigorous national standards. Schools must develop good practice in Personal Social Health Education (including Sex and Relationships and Drug Education), Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health and Wellbeing using a whole-school approach.
